Guest Speaker Profile: Juliette Jones
Juliette started her own business, CSJ leMoNaiD in November of 2014, not long after her grandfather passed away of Motor Neurone Disease. She was hurt and angry that there was no cure or treatment for those suffering from MND so she decided to do something about it. She was 11 at the time she decided to create her own delicious recipe for an old school, home made lemonade and took it upon herself to acquire a space at her local market to sell it to help raise funds to find a cure.
Her greatest wish is to find a cure for MND by raising enough money through selling her leMoNaiD to sponsor a full time researcher at The Macquarie University Research Facility overseen by Dr Dominic Rowe. This year she reached her target of $33,000 and due to a surge in online lemonade sales was able to donate a further $4,000 for the coming year. She has pledged $99,000 over three years, and will continue to donate profits made from her lemonade until a cure is found.
In 2015 Juliette set up an amazing go fund me campaign to help her raise funds to get her leMoNaiD into bottles and thanks to The Dream Machine with Edwina Bartholomew on Sunrise, Kia donated a further $10,000 to get her started. Alicia Parker agreed to help her by taking her secret recipe and putting it into bottles and so her online shop was born. Juliette also won the Aces For Charity Grant in January for her tireless work with CSJ leMoNaiD, which was presented to her on court at APIA this year.
Juliette's Academic Background
Juliette is in year 9 at high school and is a very good student who is much loved and appreciated by her teachers and is considered an asset to her school. She has worked hard and has secured a place for herself in the Newman stream this year, and so her business is now predominately online and attending markets has been scaled back.
Juliette received a scholarship at Jack Delosa's entrepreneurial school The Entourage in 2015, and completed her first year in 2016. She is hailed by Jack himself as one of The Entourage’s success stories and he affectionately calls her his favourite entrepreneur.
Juliette currently wants to achieve her HSC, attend university and continue her work at CSJ leMoNaiD until a cure is found.
Goals and Ambitions for the future
Juliette's mission is to see a cure for MND in her lifetime. She doesn’t want to see any more people suffer from this terrible disease like her grandfather did. She has created a foundation to help her achieve this goal by generating enough income to pay for a full time research team at Dr Dominic Rowe's leading research facility at Macquarie University and wishes to continue this work into the future.
She also wants to "pay it forward" and is currently in the process of creating her own online entrepreneurial school for kids who want to raise funds for their own causes, called Future Founders Academy. Through this her wish is to empower other families, children and young people to get out into their own communities, spread their own special brand of kindness to help change the world. She is also working towards offering a place children effected by MND can go to on her website, where they can find all of the latest and new info on research, treatments or possible cures in one place because it can be very time consuming and confusing looking for information all over the web. She has also started a Facebook group for children, where they can go to support each other through the hardship that is MND.
Juliette inspires others to follow their dreams and gives hope to sufferers of MND and their families.
